Thank you for your interest in joining the WHAT coaching staff.
Step 1: To move forward with the hiring process, you will need to contact Coach Walt by phone, (412) 302-8816 or by email, wh.aquaticteam@gmail.com.
Step 2: In order to comply with USA Swimming and state laws regarding adults working or volunteering with children, WHAT requires the following clearances to be included with your employee paperwork. As an employee, WHAT will reimburse you for the cost to obtain each clearance. If you have obtained any of the required clearances within the last year you do not have to do them again, we will just need a copy.
Required Clearances:
- Act 34 Clearance - https://epatch.pa.gov/home (PA State Police Criminal Background Check)
- Act 151 Clearance - https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home (PA Child Abuse History Clearance).

Step 3: USA Swimming Coach Certification Program: To coach for WHAT you must hold a current USA Swimming Membership and complete the required trainings.
- USA Swimming Coach Premium Member:
- If you are already a certified USA Swimming Coach you will need to transfer your membership to WHAT (Woodland Hills Aquatic Team/AMS)
- Not a USA Swimming member - how-to-create-a-new-login-in-swims.pdf
- Once your USA Swimming account is active, you will need to join WHAT (Woodland Hills Aquatic Team/AMS)
- Complete the requirements to be a certified USA Swimming Coach:
- Review the Coach Membership Requirements document for a list of the required trainings and certifications. coach-membership-requirements.pdf
- Most, but not all, of the requirements can be found on the USA Swimming website under the Education tab of your USA Swimming membership
Step 4: Complete your payroll documents
- Form W-4
- Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
- Form PA Residency Verification
- Direct Deposit form will be provided once all required documents, clearances and certifications are received
